| This paper aims at deepening and understanding of the agricultural marketing characteristics of farmers in the Eastern region of Upper Volta, West Africa. This work was requested by the Eastern Regional Development Organization (ORD) of the Voltaic government and the local U.S. AID Mission to provide some early guidepoints in the preparation of proposals for a major multi-donor integrated rural development project. The paper analyzes, at the farmer's level, utilization of crops, sales of purchases of crops and animals, other marketing transactions of farmers (trading in crops, processing of crops, gathering of fruit and nuts), and farmer's level of participation in the marketing system. |

| Resumo Perdas de terra foram preditas como uma parte de um estudo maior destinado a produzir estimativas da capacidade de suporte para populações humanas em uma parte da área de colonização da Transamazônica. As medidas de erosão representam a baixa do nível da superfície do solo, e por isso incluem a compactação do solo. Estimativas de mudanças de nível de terreno foram feitas em solos sob culturas anuais (arroz de sequeiro, milho, feijão e mandioca), pimenta-do-reino, cacau, pastagem, capoeira e mata primária. Regressões foram desenvolvidas para a previsão de perdas de terra, baseadas em tais variáveis, como declive e teor de argila no solo. | A review of 99 species and subspecies of the genus Corydoras is given. The primary type-material is recorded together with additional type-specimens deposited in 22 different museum collections. Two neotypes and 22 lectotypes are designated. The species are arranged in five groups: 31 species in the punctatus-group, 11 in the barbatus-group, 25 in the aeneus-group, 8 in the elegans-group, and 19 in the acutusgroup. Measurements and counts of almost all primary typespecimens are tabulated. Ill-known illustrations of type-material are included. |

| A revision has been made for the species of Eriachne R. Br. (Gramineae) occurring in Asia and Malesia and including Massia Balansa. Four taxa may be recognized: E. burkittii Jansen var. burkittii, E. pallescens R. Br., E. squarrosa R. Br., and E. triseta Nees ex Steud. (= Massia triseta Balansa). E. squarrosa is proposed as the generic lectotype. The australian E. laidlawii Jansen is reduced to a variety of E. burkittii. Pheidochloa S. T. Blake is the only clear relative, but seems derived from Eriachne. A tribe Eriachneae (Ohwi) stat. nov. is proposed for them, provisionally placed near the Danthonieae. |

| In this revision of the genus Sinularia 93 valid species are recorded. The type specimens of 13 species could not be examined, since the depository of the specimens is unknown; nevertheless it is possible to make notes on seven of them in this paper; three were discussed in former papers (S. gyrosa, S. marenzelleri and S. rigida), while the remaining three (S. mayi, S. microspiculata and S. verrucosa) could not be described in this paper. The holotypes of 24 species were described earlier by the present author and the reader is referred to the literature given. | A rather simple one-dimensional unsteady model similar to Mellor and Durbin (1975) is used to study the effects of the time variability of meteorological inputs on the evolution of the thermal stratification of marine upper layers. The physical implications of such a model are discussed, particularly with respect to the results obtained in a number of typical situations. The thermal structure of the marine upper layers in the Gulf of Lion during the COFRASOY II expedition was also simulated.
